Praise Team – Praise the Lord, Lift His Name in Song
Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.(Psalm 150:1)
At the end of December 2021, I returned to the Abbey Baptist Church for worship. During that time, some hymns were performed through YouTube. One day, I shared with Church Minister a suggestion: singing songs onsite could bring the congregation to life and make God’s words resonate more deeply. This simple conversation planted the seed for what would become our vibrant worship team.
Our Journey: From a Small Beginning to a Unified Voice
Initially, I began singing during worship and gradually formed a small group. Over time, more members joined, and now our team consists of over ten people dedicated to leading songs of praise. As Scripture reminds us:
One mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 15:6)
We are not just a worship team; we are a family united in faith. Together, we offer our voices—and our lives—in harmony, praising God with one heart and one mind.
A Ministry of Music and Fellowship
The worship team exists to:
- Enhance Worship: Lead the congregation in heartfelt singing to connect with God and reflect His words through music.
- Build Fellowship: Strengthen bonds among members and the church community through music and worship.
- Glorify God: Use music as a vessel to share His messages and deepen spiritual growth.
- Lead in Praise: Help the congregation experience the Holy Spirit through vibrant and meaningful worship.
We believe the congregation is our “big choir,” and our role is to help everyone sing as one to glorify God.
Our Challenges and Aspirations
While our team has grown in numbers and passion, we seek to improve and grow further. In the coming days, we pray that God will bring us a skilled choir conductor who can guide us in vocal training and musical technique. With this, we hope to become a stronger and more powerful choir, capable of reaching new heights in our worship.
Memorable Moments in Ministry
Christmas Caroling
One of our most cherished experiences is singing Christmas carols, especially outdoors during the festive season. In collaboration with the St. John’s live band, we led a street performance of classical and popular carols. The hymns told the Christmas story, from Advent to Christ’s birth, and brought joy to countless passersby. The streets filled with music, laughter, and the celebration of Jesus’ birth—a truly touching atmosphere.
An unforgettable wedding
Another unforgettable milestone was participating in a wedding—the first in our church in decades. On this special day, we sang hymns to glorify God, adding a touch of warmth and reverence to the ceremony. The couple made their vows before God in a solemn yet joyous atmosphere, filled with love and happiness. It was an honor to witness and contribute to such a beautiful occasion.
Looking Ahead: United in Christ’s Love
Our team lives by the call that “Christ’s love has gathered us into one.” We aim to align our efforts with God’s will, bringing His presence into every moment of worship and every gathering we serve.
Through singing, we enhance the spiritual atmosphere and create deeper connections with God. As we continue on this journey, we remain grateful for the opportunity to serve and share God’s love through music.
